Fodor's Review

Prague's largest "island" is cut off from the "mainland" by the narrow Čertovka streamlet. The name Čertovka, or Devil's Stream, reputedly refers to a cranky old lady who once lived on Maltese Square. During the historic 2002 floods, the well-kept lawns of the Kampa Gardens, which occupy much of the island, were covered as was much of the lower portion of Malá Strana. Evidence of flood damage occasionally marks the landscape, along with a sign indicating where

the waters crested.
