Czech and Slovak puppetry has Unesco World Heritage status for its role in the cultural traditions of the two countries. This is one of the best central venues to find out why (although it might be one of those traditions that makes more sense to countrymen than outsiders). This puppet company has been presenting Mozart's Don Giovanni with string puppets set to recorded music sung in Italian since 1991. The opera is slightly tongue-in-cheek, and Mozart himself makes a guest appearance. A new production of The Magic Flute, in German, is occasionally performed as well. There are also 'make your own marionette' sessions.
