Fodor's Review:
Prices here have doggedly remained unchanged since it opened in the late 1990s. Universal is a Continental cornucopia of excellent salads, classicly European main courses, titanic side orders of scalloped potatoes, luscious lemon tarts, and sweet profiteroles. An affordable midday menu makes it even more alluring at lunchtime, and the cheap house wine draws out after-dinner conversations. Reservations are advisable.

Excellent food, great atmosphere

This is a great find. Located off a quiet (non-touristy) street in Novo Mesto, you will find this sweet, dark and cozy restaurant. I had the salmon, my husband at a medley dish of sausages. Both were fantastic. Service was slow, but the food and atmosphere far outweighed the lack of overly attentive servers. Even better, we were the only tourists in the place.RATING: 4.6
