(M)eatingpoint

(M)eatingpoint Review

Ignore the silly, Jersey Shore-type name and you'll find a restaurant that's a cut above your typical hotel dining experience. Inside the King's Court hotel and looking out on Námestí Republiky, (M)eatingpoint caters to international tastes. (The menu, which is written in English and Russian, should be a hint.) The decor suffers from too much flashiness: purple velvet chairs, disco chandelier, and a busy patterned carpet feel distracting. Nonetheless, the food hits the right notes, from crisp, tender calamari with a spicy tomato coulis to tuna and salmon tartare appetizers (not as common in Prague as in the States). The pastas here are also excellent, including a fresh tagliatelle with mushrooms and bacon. And if you want to stick to the Czech standards, there are some clever spins on these as well, like a duck with white cabbage.
