Karavanseraj

Karavanseraj Review

A quirky Lebanese/Indian restaurant popular with the backpacker set, Karavanseraj serves specialties as diverse as Baghdad-style spiced lamb sausages in tomato sauce and as common as Czech lunchmeat. The chef views himself as a cultural ambassador, apparent both in the tomelike menu jammed with photos of foreign lands and the austere restaurant's few decorations, which include pictures and knickknacks from abroad. Dishes like sag paneer are described on the menu as best eaten only after diners "successfully levitate," though more grounded eaters will be happy with the assortment of Lebanese meze, kebabs, and mixed veggie platters. Be sure to try the Algerian-style burek, a meat pastry.
