Stellar service and elegant meals of high quality at moderate prices are de rigueur here. Oh, and killer sweets. This restored café, a one-time favorite of the city's fin-de-siècle Jewish community, serves everything from meal-sized split-pea and cream of cauliflower soups to Wiener schnitzel, with huge salads complemented by fresh breads from the in-house bakery. The house cake, topped with marzipan, makes a properly sweet finish. But if you can't handle too much more, consider the bite-size chocolate truffles, sold individually, with fillings like Irish cream, rum, green pepper, and chili.
