Maximilian Review

Architect Eva Jiricna spearheaded a rehab of this property in 2004, and the end result was a tasteful fusion of the light, airy modernism she is known for at the nearby Josef, with a heavy, early-modernist chic from the 1920s and '30s. The look works perfectly in the lobby, with chrome lamps and square armchairs, but is less successful in the rooms, which can be dark and gloomy. What is mood lifting is the hotel's Planet Zen spa. The location can't be beat, either, next to two of the city's best restaurants and a five-minute walk from Old Town Square or the Námĕstí Republiky metro station.
