This hotel is a meeting of two times: Modern conveniences in a blue-blooded historic building (Empress Maria Theresa's son, Joseph II, stayed here when he was passing through in the 18th century). The baroque building is five minutes on foot from downtown. Renovations and generic room decor have masked much of the hotel's history behind a modern look. To get a sense of its age, visit the original 14th-century wine cellar.
