Cons
Fodor's Finds Hotels
Book NowCarlo IV Review
Dripping with glamour, this Italian-owned hotel has an imperial beauty. High ceilings present space for towering palm trees, and playful design touches like gargantuan floor lamps and an enormous umbrella lend it an Alice in Wonderland quality. Unfortunately, on closer inspection some of the details are more real world than wonderland, with carpeting in the rooms in need of repair and indifferent service. Still, there are plenty of luxe touches, particularly the excellent bedding, a cigar bar, and one of the oldest cognac vaults in Europe. The rooms in the original building are more antique in style, while modern rooms are available in the adjoining building.
