Hotel Roma

  • Even though the hotel is situated on a street with a tram, it is surprisingly quiet
  • Large bathrooms with bathtubs
  • Friendly staff
  • Sauna

  • Rooms with tiled floors are cold and make for noisy neighbors
  • The room furnishings could use some style

Fodor's Review

The Roma is a solid choice, particularly if you can get a deal over the hotel website. The rooms are simple and spare, with blond-wood furnishings and parquet floors, but everything is clean and well-maintained. The location, across the street from Petřín hill and around the corner from Kampa Island, is excellent. The atrium lobby is admittedly bland, but a few funky details give the place some character. Several suites are furnished in real antiques—unfortunately,

that also means two single beds with bumping headboards are pushed together; if desired, ensure that you get a proper double bed when booking your room. Wi-Fi is free in the rooms.

Great value for money

We had a very nice stay at this hotel in Mala Strana area in November 2006 at €79 per night for a double room, obviously the low season rate. The staff very courteous, room spaceous with large bathroom with a tub. Breakfast room ok but the food quality was very good. Especially the yogurt was rich and tasty. I heard the rooms facing the tram street could be noisy so requested a room in the back and had no problem at all. Maybe the location was the

best of all for me. Slighly off the toursit central, yet 7-minute easy walk to Charles' Bridge via Kampa Park, also 7 minutes to St.Nicola church. The walk up the Petrin hill nearby was very pleasant and you get a magnificent view of Prague. If you are lazy or in a hurry you can also take the funicular. The station is 1 minute walk. Also the tram stop Ujezd is just outside the hotel and more than 6 lines stops there. Very convenient.

WOW..what service!

Checked in for one night, in the middle of winter, without a reservation. The desk person said "No reservation, are you sure?" DUH ...yea I am sure. So she charged me the full rate (later I looked online and could have saved 30 Euro). I asked what restaurant she would recommend for dinner. The response "I don't know". I asked about a place to get a steak. The response "I don't know". I asked where SHE would eat if hungry. "The mexican place down

the street". BTW, right across from the mexican place is a Steakhouse. Service isnt high on this hotel's list. ROOM::Took the elevator to the proper floor. It was dark (obviously the lights didn't work or they were trying to save money). The room was reason to buy a postcard. Just like the last posting, the bathroom had a tub and handheld shower with no curtain. After a shower, I needed an ARK to leave the room because water was EVERYWHERE and the "towels" (if that is what you call the piece of fabric) didn't do the job. Very disappointed with this place. There are other better choices.

Motel 6 with Nasty Reception

I usually trust Fodors to pick quality hotels which can deliver a unique experience. Yeah, this place is a wall-to-wall tiled version of a Motel 8 off I-79 in West Virginia. Not the kind of experience I have come to expect from Fodors. There has got to be a better hotel in Prague for 100-150 Euro. I'm not asking for the Ritz, but at a minimum throw me a shower curtain and a smile when I arrive.
