Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Savoy
Keplerova 6, 118 00, Czech Republic
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
A modest Jugendstil façade conceals one of the city's most luxurious small hotels. Once a budget hotel, the building was gutted and lavishly refurbished in the mid-1990s. The rooms today are a palette of primary colors—blue carpeting, pale yellow walls, and red bedspreads anchor traditional furnishings—while the hotel also has an excellent formal restaurant and "Relax Center," with gym, whirlpool and Finnish sauna. There's a tram stop right outside, making trips into the center quick and easy, or you can walk downhill through the vineyards surrounding the castle.
PROS
- peaceful location above it all
- small but well-stocked bar
- refurbished sauna facilities
CONS
- long (uphill) walk home
- some noise from tram stop outside
- expensive for the area
