Fodor's Review:

Like an apartment decorated by Liberace and Count Dracula, Alchymist's ambience goes way over-the-top to include zebra-print chairs, crystal chandeliers, scarlet curtains, silver Louis XIV chairs, and ornate gold tables, with random symbols thrown in for good measure. The cuisine is less overstated, though no less confident of its own artistic direction, including such starters as a sweet cheese tart with port wine syrup and a foie gras terrine with dates and pomegranate seeds. Main courses continue the contemporary Continental theme, with a tender beef tagliata, rich duck breast with crisp celery root chips, and a creamy saffron risotto. Kitsch aspects aside, the cooking, fine wines, and excellent service bring this restaurant firmly into the city's upper echelon.
