Fodor's Review:

For Czechs and expatriates living in Prague, this is one of the most popular spots to take visitors for a taste of local cuisine without the stress of tourist rip-offs and dingy neighborhoods. The wood-and-copper decor gives off an appropriate air of a brewery taproom, and you can wash down traditional meals -- such as svíckova (beef tenderloin in cream sauce), roast duck, and fried pork cutlets, or upgrades of traditional food, such as turkey steak with Roquefort sauce and walnuts -- with a mug of unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell.

Food good but not great

The Fried Cheese was awful but the sausages & beer were very good. We had a difficult finding it with our maps.

Nice lunch...

Posted by Kim from Orange County, CA on 7/27/06

The restaurant was very comfortable and was a nice change compared to all the overcrowded tourist spots in the square. The food was really only mediocre, but the service was very good. It made for a nice lunch spot.

Czech cuisine for the 21st Century

Posted by someone from London on 2/2/06

Love this place, always make a point to visit whenever I hit Prague. When I travel I like places with character and food that reflect where I am, and Kolkovna delivers. It is the best place I know in Prague for high quality but authentically Czech cuisine. Its not especially swanky in terms of decor and ambience while being pleasant enough, but the quality of food is very good indeed, and the prices are unbeatable. I think it is a genuine must visit when in Prague.
