At this impressive museum, works by Venetian Renaissance and Baroque artists such as Bellini and Carpaccio predominate, but there are also masterpieces by Dutch painters Brueghel and Van Dyck, as well as a delightful Mary Magdalene by El Greco. Now under the custody of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the museum was founded in 1884 by Bishop Strossmayer and later expanded to include many private donations.
