Fodor's Expert Review Matija Gubec

Zagreb and Environs Hot Spring

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Set at the edge of a large park replete with tall spruce trees, the Matija Gubec hotel is the place to test the waters yourself—though you needn't stay overnight at this complex of six beige, concrete, interconnected ranch-house-like buildings. After paying a small admission fee, you get access to the complex's eight outdoor pools as well as the hotel's indoor pool, sauna, and fitness facility. The rooms (€72) are decent, with cable TV and phones, but otherwise have no frills and no air-conditioning. If you are looking for a bite to eat, Restaurant Bilikum, across the street from the hotel, is a good choice.
