Restoran Katarina

Restoran Katarina Review

You needn't venture far from Cakovec's main square, Trg Republike, for some fairly fine dining—on foot it's just a minute to this comely cellar restaurant in an antique building that now functions mostly as a shopping center. Replete with brick-arched ceilings, pink cloth napkins, an extensive wine list, and pop music that mars the elegance, the Katarina has a big menu, but specializes in pork, poultry, and beef dishes. The popular Katarina Platter, for example, is a sizeable two-person affair including pork stuffed with tomatoes and Gorgonzola cheese, turkey stuffed with cranberries and walnuts, and mixed veggies on the side. And then there's beef with truffles or, say, the goose liver pâté with mushroom sauce.
