Train

The train is a great option for getting to Croatia from abroad, with direct international connections to Zagreb from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, and Switzerland. However, within Croatia, trains are typically slower than buses and there are far fewer of them. Train travel is a viable alternative to the bus if you're traveling around the north or east to Slavonia. If you're going to Istria, you'll travel as far as Rijeka before switching to a bus. There are no trains that travel the coastal route south to Dalmatia.
