Le Meridien Lav Review
A world unto its own, this vast, self-contained complex lies 5 mi (8 km) south of Split. Set in landscaped gardens with a half mile of beach, it reopened in December 2006 after a $100-million renovation, making it Split's first five-star hotel. The modern, sleek, minimalist interior was designed by Italian architect Lorenzo Bellini. The spacious guest rooms and suites have floor-to-ceiling windows and are decorated in beige with splashes of scarlet-red and petrol-blue, and most of the light-wood-paneled bathrooms have a separate tub and shower. Sports facilities include a palm-lined infinity pool overlooking the sea, a private marina with berths for 60 yachts, scuba diving, waterskiing, windsurfing, tennis courts, and the luxurious Diocletian Spa & Wellness Center. There is also a vast casino with 20 gaming tables and 140 slot machines.
