Gradski muzej (City Museum) Review

At the corner of the main square, in an imposing 18th-century building, is the Gradski muzej, whose collection of some 30,000 items comprises almost 20 display rooms on three floors covering regional archaeology, history, art, and ethnography from prehistoric times to the present day. You'll find paintings by regional artists, including family portraits by the renowned 19th-century painter Gustav Posa, and early-20th-century work by Miroslav Kraljevic. There are also regional folk costumes and embroidery; ancient pottery and jewelry; artifacts from the Roman occupation of the region; and, yes, plenty of rocks, minerals, and fossils to wonder at, too.
