Istranka Review

With a delightful covered terrace flanked by a twisting tree, this small restaurant is Opatija's best option for those who are not the greatest fans of seafood (although if that's you, what you're doing in Kvarner is a mystery). Taking its influence from the neighboring region of Istria, the menu concentrates more on landlubber food: hams, cheeses, and of course, the famous Istrian truffle!

    Home cooking

    Cooking here is just like mamma cooks, lots of sauce too. Hearty dishes make this more of a winter venue than a summer one, with meat dominating the menu. We enjoyed pork and beef slow cooked, and thought it good value for money. Decor was not to our taste but not that important overall.

    Istranka Review

    The cuisine at Istranka is described as seafood on Fodors but this is not accurate. There are very few seafood options and the menu is mostly meaty/hearty fare. Beef steak, pork, veal and lamb are standard and you certainly won't leave hungry.
    If local traditional food is your thing, then this is a good choice and good value for money.
