When to Go

If you are partial to sun and the idea of swimming in the warm, blue-green waters of the Adriatic, and you don't mind crowds and a bit of extra expense, by all means visit Istria in summer. Otherwise, this tourism-trampled region might be best saved for spring or fall (the water stays warm well into September), when you might save as much as 15% to 20% on lodging. The season in Istria for many restaurants and bars is Easter through the first week in November. You won't find much going on at all in January.
