1. Mediterraneo Bar
With a lovely terrace literally on the sea's edge, with friendly staff at the ready but not hovering, a great selection of pretty cocktails, a relaxed atmosphere, and more affordable prices than similar bars in the vicinity, Mediterraneo is popular among locals and visitors alike. Pass through the low archway and head down a staircase to the fun terrace with colorful tables, stone benches, and cushions for those willing to have a drink sitting on the rocks. Even dolphins occasionally visit. The bar is closed from November to April.

2. Beach Bar La Playa
Just down the beach from Hotel Splendid, and a short walk through the forest, you'll find this casual waterfront bar and lounge. Tasty cocktails and cool live music can be found here on most summer nights. Three terraces and vibrant lighting mark this waterfront hot spot as the place to be after a long, lazy day on the beach.

5. Havana Club
The Adriatic may not be quite as warm as the Caribbean, but at the Havana Club—a spacious, tropical-themed cocktail-bar-cum-café right on the harbor—you can sip a piña colada or a canchánchara (rum, lime, and honey). There's a great selection of over 100 Caribbean rums and premium gins plus nonalcoholic cocktails, as well as iced tea and coffee. Kick back and relax in a wicker chair under a bamboo umbrella while listening to reggae. That's not to mention the real Cuban cigars you can puff for anywhere between 60 Kn and 160 Kn. Ah, the life!

6. Pietas Julia
This large, seafront lounge bar and dance club also features a coffee bar and pizzeria. This is the place to dance a night away in Pula, with DJs playing electronic, house, techno, and R&B music. A great selection of cocktails makes this sexy spot popular among Pula’s hip crowd.

7. Puntulina Restaurant & Wine Bar
Take the steps down to Puntulina's terrace, where you can enjoy a glass of Istrian or other Croatian wine in a pleasant atmosphere yards from the sea, with light pop music setting the tone, plus amazing sunsets. And, yes, you can take a few more steps down if you wish, to the rocks, and take a dip before or after being served—this is where Rovinj's free, public swimming area begins. There's also an excellent seafood restaurant on the upper level, which offers the same excellent views in one of the most romantic settings in Rovinj.

8. Villa Club Porec
Located near the marina, right by the beach, the Villa Club is a popular hangout with lounge chairs, wicker canopy beds, and lounge music during the day. Night brings DJs, theme parties, live bands playing dance music, and go-go dancers until dawn.
