Hotel Excelsior Review

On the coastal road east of the center, this prestigious, modern hotel offers well-furnished rooms, most with balconies overlooking the sea and Old Town. Each of the luxury suites has a jetted tub and a spacious sea-view terrace. The hotel has excellent sports, spa and wellness, and business facilities, as well as four restaurants, including a sushi bar.

    Hotel Excelsior Review

    Beware the so-called "garden-view" room. I made my reservation 7 months ago and, at that time, the Excelsior was happy to greet me in July. But now that I am here, and they are book solid with tour groups, I was relegated to a "garden view" room. First of all, there was never a mention of what type of room I would have. And secondly, there is no garden to be seen: there is a stone retaining wall with a few plants. And for any ladies, either single or traveling together, DO NOT stay on level 1 if you have "garden-view" room; the windows open on to a pathway and your room could easily be broken in to, especially if you had a window open.
    When I complained about the room, the management said there was nothing they could do but if I could just stay in my room for one night, they would try and change me the next day. What option did I have? The next day, I was taken to a higher floor, that still had a view of the retaining wall and now the bottom of cars in the car park AND a fire escape exit. Definitely not a garden view room.
    Dubrovnik is expensive, no doubt, but for your money, the Excelsior is not worth the money.
