Hotel rooms in this region tend to be low-price, even if there's an outstanding restaurant downstairs. They usually fill up on weekends and during high season, June-August. If you prefer to eat somewhere other than in the hotel you've booked, clear it with the management: you're often expected (and sometimes obliged) to eat in their restaurant. Many hotels offer demi-pension (half-board) arrangements, as well as les weekends gastronomiques, which include a few elaborate meals for a set rate. Farmhouse accommodations and B&Bs are widely available and especially popular with families.
