When to Go

The best months for touring the Meuse and the Ardennes are April-June, September, and October, when the weather is warm and pleasant. Fall brings a colorful backdrop and excellent game to restaurant menus. But if you're visiting the Ardennes in the low season (November-March), you are sure to be rewarded with traditional festivals and carnivals. You also have more of the region's natural splendor to yourself in winter and early spring, when there are far fewer tourists than in summer. Note that the Ardennes region is very popular with Belgian and Dutch vacationers, especially during the school holidays in July, August, October, and February or March.
