Huis der Gekroonde Hoofden

Huis der Gekroonde Hoofden Review

Busts of the counts of Flanders decorate the facade of the Crowned Heads' House, a distinctive Renaissance building, which dates from 1559. The lowest row includes the sculpted faces of Maximilian, who inherited Flanders through Mary of Burgundy; his son Philip; his grandson Charles V; and Philip of Spain, Charles's son. A plan in the window will tell you who's who. Inside is the popular brasserie De Gekroonde Hoofden (evenings only), which serves up tasty steaks and spareribs (¢-$).
