Museum Arnold Vander Haeghen

Museum Arnold Vander Haeghen Review

Three of Gent's favorite locals are honored in this 18th-century former governor's home. Nobel Prize-winning playwright and poet Maurice Maeterlinck (1862-1949) kept a library in this elegant, neoclassical building, and it still contains his personal objects, letters, and documents. A cabinet showcases work by the artists Stuyvaert, who illustrated Maeterlinck's publications, and the painter Doudelet. Look for the exceptional 18th-century silk wall decorations in the Chinese salon. There's no descriptive information in English.
