While the surrounding streets of the Ilôt Sacré neighborhood buzz with activity, this friendly hotel stays calm and down-to-earth. Its well-lit rooms have cream-color bamboo fittings and impressionist prints; some bathrooms have only showers. The panoramic Septième Ciel (Seventh Heaven) restaurant has views over the rooftops to the spires of the Hôtel de Ville and the cathedral. A jazz band plays in the '70s-style basement bar several nights a week. A cinema in the same arcade shows second-run and art-house movies—and gives hotel guests a discount. Pros: five-minute walk from Central Station. Cons: neighborhood can be noisy; some bathrooms only have showers.
