Fodor's Review:

From the terrace of the Kasteel van Gaasbeek, originally built in 1240, you have a panoramic view of this landscape. The rulers of Gaasbeek once lorded it over Brussels, and the townspeople took terrible revenge and razed the castle in 1388. Restored in Romantic style in the 19th century, it contains outstanding 15th- and 16th-century tapestries. Rubens's will is among the documents in the castle archives. The surrounding park is popular with picnickers. A guide booklet is available in Dutch only.

  • Cost: EUR 6
  • Open: Apr.-June, Sept., and Oct., Tues.-Thurs. and weekends 10-5; July and Aug., Tues.-Sun. 10-5
