North of Center
Don't be put off by the area's seedy reputation, because here you'll find green suburbs and some of Brussels' best tourist attractions. There are several sights clustered around the Atomium building, a model of a molecule that can be seen from all over the city. Anderlecht and Schaerbeek communes are home to a strong community of North African and Turkish immigrants, who have brought a vibrant street culture to the city. Pleasant Laeken is where the royal family spends most of its time, while Jette has a village feel and lots of amenities for children.
