Fodor's Review

This branch of the Marriott chain opposite the stock exchange has a striking cream-marble lobby, and each floor has a different theme for its guest rooms. Guest rooms are done in universal corporate-travel style: cherrywood furniture, green- or yellow-striped wallpaper, and marble bathrooms. Quieter ones face an internal courtyard; those on upper floors have city views. Nearly half of the rooms are especially geared toward business travelers, with ergonomic desk chairs and no-glare lamps.

Weekend Luxury

We have stayed at this hotel about 15 times now in the past 5-6 years, booking through their web site on-line. We have always enjoyed our stay, and have never had any problems. The rooms are really lovely and the staff are always smiling and eager to do whatever they can to make you stay more enjoyable. Breakfast is good and the restaurant food excellent.Lovely bar to relax in after dinner.

Beware of OVERBOOKINGS at Marriott Brussels

We booked 2 rooms through the website 2 weeks prior to our stay 27/01/2007. We arrived at the hotel at 3:00 pm, the reception staff have our reservation in their system but informed us that the rooms were not ready yet and that we had to come back later. We left our luggage at the reception and when we came back later they told us that the hotel was OVERBOOKED and that they had NO ROOMS. They clearly must have given our rooms away to

other customers at a higher rate as one of the rooms we had booked was at a promotional rate. The solution proposed by the hotel management is a bigger room in another hotel in Brussels EU district, an area which is absolutely dead on weekends. Apart from a taxi fare to the other hotel, no other compensation was offered (not even free breakfast). The hotel manager said all we could do was send a formal complaint to Mr Marriott. This is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. So beware of OVERBOOKINGS at Marriott Brussels, even when you booked through their website weeks in advance and check-in at 3:00 pm they may send you off to another hotel in a dead area and make it sound like you're getting a great deal !!!
