Firean Hotel Review

This art deco gem, built in 1929, embodies not only the architectural style but also the grace of a bygone era. The setting, a residential neighborhood on the tram line into town, reinforces the tranquillity inside, expressed by fresh flowers, rich fabrics, and a tasteful mix of antiques and reproductions. The service is what you'd hope for from a family-owned and -operated establishment. There's scrupulous attention to detail; breakfast eggs come in floral-print cozies, for instance, and jazz piano is discreetly piped into public areas. The owner's son runs a restaurant a few doors away.
