To get up to speed on the latest clothing designers, head to ModeNatie, an early 19th-century building with a 20th-century makeover. Comprehensive exhibits highlight the avant-garde work of such contemporary Flemish designers as the renowned Antwerp Six, as well as clothing, accessories, and textiles dating back to the 18th century; you can ponder the workmanship of delicate antique lace alongside deconstructed blouses from the late 1990s. Also in the museum's complex
are the Flanders Fashion Institute, the fashion academy of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (the designer wellspring), a brasserie, library, reading room, and a boutique. You can pick up a brochure with information in English.
