Skating in Antwerp

The most popular skating rink is Antarctica (Moerelei 119, Wilrijk. 03/828-9928), in a suburb about 5 km (3 mi) from the city center, reachable by bus. You can rent skates for EUR 2 an hour and use the indoor or outdoor rink. If you're in Antwerp during the winter holidays, be sure to hit the skating rink that's set up in the Grote Markt, Antwerp on ice (03/232-0103). You can rent skates (EUR 2 per hour) and glide past the old guild houses—this is especially lovely in the evening, when the buildings are illuminated. The rink also hosts evening concerts and other special events.
