Bundestheaterkassen
Bundestheaterkassen Review
Getting tickets: With a city as music mad and opera crazy as Vienna, it's not surprising to learn that the bulk of major performances are sold out in advance, but, with thousands of seats to be filled every night, you may luck out with a bit of planning and the help of the State Theater Booking Office, or Bundestheaterkassen. It sells tickets for the Akademietheater, Schauspielhaus, Staatsoper, Volksoper, and Burgtheater. Call the (frequently busy) phone line weekdays 8-5. The above address also operates as a central clearinghouse, open weekdays 8-6, weekends from 9 am to noon. Tickets for the Staatsoper and Volksoper go on sale one month before the date of performance; credit-card reservations are taken up to six days before the performance. You can also purchase tickets using the Web site www.culturall.at.
