A family-run establishment on the upper floors of a 19th-century office and apartment building, the Nossek lies at the heart of Vienna's pedestrian and shopping area. Rooms have high ceilings and are eclectically but comfortably furnished; those on the street side have a view of the Graben. Mozart worked on The Abduction from the Seraglio while he lived here in the early 1780s. Do as the many regular guests do: book early. Pros: perfect location; family oriented; friendly staff. Cons: old-fashioned, a little drab in appearance.

I spent one lovely evening in the Pension Nossek overlooking Graben and all the craziness of the eurocup. The next night, however, we moved to a different room and woke in the middle of the night to discover bed bugs everywhere in each of our beds. You would think these are small tiny bugs but this was a full on infestation with bugs as big as a finger nail. We immediately moved out and found accomodations elsewhere, but all in all this is something to keep anyone from staying here. The bites last for days and both hurt and itch. Stay elsewhere. This place is a public health risk.
