Ruprechtskirche (St. Ruprecht's Church)

Ruprechtskirche (St. Ruprecht's Church) Review

Ruprechtsplatz, another of Vienna's time-warp backwaters, lies to the north of the Kornhäusel Tower. The church in the middle, Ruprechtskirche, is the city's oldest. According to legend it was founded in 740; the oldest part of the present structure (the lower half of the tower) dates from the 11th century. Set on the ancient ramparts overlooking the Danube Canal, it is serene and unpretentious. It's usually open afternoons and in evenings in summer for classical concerts.
