A sure way to spike a lively discussion among the Viennese is to ask which Würstelstand serves the most delicious grilled sausages. Here are three that are generally acknowledged to be the best
Ehrenreich's (Naschmarkt, on the Linke Wienzeile side across from Piccini, under the clock, 1st District. Closed Sun.) serves scrumptious Käsekrainer (beef sausages oozing with melted cheese), alongside a Semmel (soft roll) and mild, sweet mustard.
Behind the Opera House, Oper (Corner of Philharmonikerstrasse/Hanuschgasse, 1st District) entices passersby with its plump, sizzling Bratwurst. Würstelstand am Hoher Markt (Hoher Markt, corner of Marc-Aurel-Strasse, 1st District) serves American-style hot dogs and is open daily from 7 AM to 5 AM.
