Austrian Christmas Museum

Austrian Christmas Museum Review

In a Gothic building on Michaelerplatz, the Austrian Christmas Museum houses the world's largest private collection of antique Christmas-tree decorations. There are more than 10,000 ornaments created out of glass, porcelain, metal, and many other materials. In addition, there are more than 200 parlor dolls, doll houses, and doll tea-cozies from Biedermeier time to post–World War II. A thoroughly eccentric Viennese lady named Elfriede Kreuzberger collected this treasure and decided that Steyr was the right place to deposit her hoard. There's also a cute, tiny, single-seater train that takes you up two floors, past Nativity scenes, to the attic with its angel workshop.
