When To Go

Most of the regions around Vienna are best seen in the temperate months between mid-March and mid-November. The Waldviertel, however, with its vast stands of great forest, offers picture-book scenery throughout the year. The combination of oaks and evergreens offers a color spectrum ranging from intense, early-spring green, through the deep green of summer, and into traces of autumn foliage, particularly in the Kamp River valley; in winter, occasional spectacular displays of hoarfrost and snow-swept vistas turn the region into a glittering three-dimensional Christmas card.
