Retzer Erlebniskeller
Retzer Erlebniskeller Review
Retz is best known for its red wines. Here you can tour the Retzer Erlebniskeller, Austria's (and reputedly also Europe's) largest wine cellar, tunneled 65 feet under the town, and at the same time taste wines of the area. Some of the tunnels go back to the 13th century, and at the end of the 15th century each citizen was permitted to deal in wines and was entitled to storage space in the town cellars. Entrance to the cellars is at the Rathauskeller, in the center of town. Dress warmly if you decide to go on the cellar tour, which lasts well over an hour.
