Impressively situated on a gently sloping hill crowned by an early-Baroque church, Poysdorf is considered by many the capital of the Weinviertel. Wine making here goes back to the 14th century. Poysdorf vintages, especially the local grüner veltliner, rank with the best Austria has to offer. Narrow paths known as Kellergassen (cellar streets) on the northern outskirts are lined with wine cellars set into and under the hills. A festival in early September marks the annual harvest.
