At this landmark in Krems's Old City district, you'll find excellent regional cuisine along with an outstanding wine selection (some of these vintages come from the backyard). The inside rooms are bright and pleasant, and the outside tables in summer are even more inviting. Owner-chef Haidinger, awarded a toque from Gault Millaut, learned his skills at Bacher, across the Danube in Mautern, so look for refined fish dishes along with specialties such as potato soup and roast shoulder of lamb with scalloped potatoes. Local ingredients such as fish from the Danube are used whenever possible.
