castle Review

Atop the hill at Greifenstein, yet another castle with spectacular views looks up the Danube and across to Stockerau. Its earliest parts date from 1135, but most of it stems from a thorough but romantic renovation in 1818. The view is worth the climb, even when the castle and inexpensive restaurant are closed. Due to a recent huge fire there are no visits allowed at the present time.
