Bischofshof (Bishop's Residence)

Bischofshof (Bishop's Residence) Review

At the intersection of Herrenstrasse and Bischofstrasse is this impressive mansion, which dates from 1721. The residence of Mozart's friend Count Herberstein, who was later appointed Bishop of Linz, this is one of the the city's most impressive baroque buildings. It was designed by Jakob Prandtauer, the architectural genius responsible for the glorious Melk and St. Florian abbeys. The building still serves as the bishop's residence and ecclesiatical offices.
