Accommodation options range from castle-hotels, where you'll be treated like royalty, to quiet and elegant country inns (often family-managed), to standard city hotels in Linz. The region is compact, so you can easily lodge in one place and drive to a nearby locale to try a different restaurant. Rates reflect the quality of service and amenities but usually include breakfast, which may range from a fast to a feast. Some hotels offer half-board, with dinner included in addition to buffet breakfast (although most $$$$ hotels charge extra for breakfast). The half-board room rate is usually an extra EUR 15-EUR 30 per person. Occasionally, quoted room rates for hotels already include half-board, though a "discounted" rate may be available if you prefer not to take the evening meal. Inquire about any pension food plans when booking. Room rates include taxes and service, and usually breakfast. In summer, nights are generally cool, but days can get uncomfortably hot. Most older hotels don't have air-conditioning, and rooms can get stuffy; whenever possible, see the room before checking in.
