St. Gilgen

Though its modest charms tend to be overshadowed by neighboring St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen has a pretty main square and a nice beach (the northernmost strand on the Wolfgangsee). A combination ticket sold in the village pairs a boat ride with a trip up the cable car for fantastic views. You can see just about every lake in the entire region as well as the pilgrimage church below.
