Parkhotel Billroth Review

Theodor Billroth was a member of the famous Viennese medical school, a surgeon who specialized in stomach ailments. Like many doctors, he was musically talented, playing violin and viola and becoming president of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde (Society of Friends of Music) in Vienna: its chorus master Johannes Brahms often came to see his friend at this summer residence. After Billroth's death his house was replaced by this villa, set in a huge park close to the lake. The house is pleasantly worn at the edges yet spaciously arranged and luxuriously appointed, with a fine dining room. Sun terraces are particularly inviting.
