Fodor's Review

This delightful, acclaimed cultural institution is devoted to opera, with a particularly renowned production of Così fan tutte to its credit. The Marionettentheater not only performs operas by Mozart, but also goodies by Rossini, the younger Strauss, Offenbach, Humperdinck, Mendelssohn (who wrote the music for the troupe's delightful show devoted to William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream), and a fairy-tale-version of The Sound of Music, all

accompanied by historic recordings. Performances are staged during the first week of January, during Mozart Week (late January), from May through September, and December 26 through January 7.
