Zum Fidelen Affen Review

The name means "At the Faithful Ape," which explains the monkey motifs in this popular Gasthaus dominated by a round copper-plated bar and stone pillars under a vaulted ceiling. Besides the beer on tap, the kitchen offers tasty Austrian dishes, such as Schlutzkrapfen, cheese ravioli with a light topping of chopped fresh tomatoes, or a big salad with strips of fried chicken. It's always crowded, so be sure to arrive early or book ahead.

    good traditional food, and traditional smoke

    The food was typical hearty Austrian fare, and was good, especially for the price.

    This restaurant was very busy, even though we visited in the off-season in early November. Without a reservation, expect to be seated at a large table with a bunch of strangers. For an American unaccustomed to cigarette smoke, this was uncomfortable, and forced us to make a hasty get-away.
